Independent governance, compliance and admin support

Hand it off.
Consider it done.

Independent governance, compliance and admin support. Built for lean New Zealand businesses, boards and committees - not corporate bureaucracy.

An experienced part-time expert who brings answers and finished work, not twenty questions for every task. When your plate is full, there's a smarter option than another salary on the books.

Sound Familiar?

The support that costs you more than it saves.

Most leaders have been burned before - by help that needed more managing than the job itself. Here's what you're likely up against.

The babysat contractor
Endless hand-holding, proofreading and step-by-step direction - which defeats the entire point of handing the work over.
The last-minute scramble
Papers, filings and financials pulled together at the eleventh hour, leaving you unprepared and always one step behind.
Download & hope compliance
Outdated online templates and missed statutory changes - leaving the business quietly exposed to costly personal grievances and audits.
The surprise-invoice meter
A clock running on every two-minute phone call, with no fixed scope - so the bill is always a nasty surprise at month's end.
Corporate overkill
A 200-page theoretical manual for an organisation that just needs simple, working systems it can actually operate.
Vague, actionless minutes
Meeting records that read like a verbatim transcript, with no track of who owns what, by when - so nothing actually moves after everyone leaves the room.

What I Do

Support, without the salary.

Governance work is, at heart, the discipline of the well-kept record.

This is bespoke governance and admin work - engage one line below, or all four.

01
The day-to-day, handled.
The load that eats your week - inbox and workflow, client and supplier admin, scheduling, follow-ups and the loose ends that never quite get done. Off your plate and handled reliably, on time.

Books kept clean and current.
Xero bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, monthly bank reconciliation and clear reporting. iPayroll and payday filing kept disciplined and on time - your numbers audit-ready, year-round.

03
Compliant and protected.
Statutory filings, registers and records kept current and aligned with NZ law - plus support for businesses, committees, trusts, societies and boards: agendas, independent minutes, action tracking and ongoing Incorporated Societies Act 2022 obligations.

04
Right-sized, not corporate bloat.
Where things live in your head or in chaos, I document them - practical processes, templates and simple working systems. No 200-page manual no one reads. Just lean, repeatable systems that hold when someone's away.

How We Start

It begins with a conversation.

No pressure, no obligation. We talk it through, agree the right fit, and go from there.

01
Book a call
Grab a time that suits. It's a straightforward chat - no forms to fill in first, no sales pitch waiting on the other end.
02
Talk it through
We get into what's on your plate - the struggles, what you want, and the must-haves. I listen first, so the fix actually fits.
03
Agree the fit & begin
We settle on the best solution - an audit, a retainer, or a project - and I take it from there. Hand it off, consider it done.

Track Record

Four commitments, in writing.

30-day onboarding

Out-of-scope work is quoted and approved first. Never billed retroactively.
Your data, your control
Everything lives in your own Xero, M365 or Infocare. You keep full ownership.

“Kirsten holds Giggles together behind the scenes so I can be where I'm needed most - in the classroom, with tamariki. What I value most is the trust: I know everything is handled properly and on time, without needing to check in or manage the details myself. I honestly don't know how we managed without her.”

Who You'd Be working With

Looking for someone who'll just get on with it?

"You don't need to write me an instruction manual. Tell me the outcome you need, and consider it done."

I'm Kirsten Winter. I've been doing this since 1998 - nearly thirty years of the kind of back-office work that keeps regional businesses and organisations running properly. Governance, compliance, bookkeeping, systems. The unglamorous work, done properly.

You deal with me directly, every time. Nothing is subcontracted. Nothing is left half-done.

I'm based in Te Puke and work remotely across New Zealand - with onsite attendance when it counts.

COMMON QUESTIONS

The things people ask first.

Good delegation comes down to trust, not size. Here's how to tell if we're a match.

You get senior governance, compliance and financial admin without the overhead, downtime and management burden of a full-time hire. Independent minute-taking and statutory register upkeep also stand up better under scrutiny - and it frees directors and owners to focus on strategy rather than paperwork.
An offshore VA sells time and needs constant direction, with no grasp of NZ frameworks like the Companies Act, Privacy Act or Incorporated Societies Act 2022. I bring answers and finished work - and I speak fluent Kiwi business, including Xero, iPayroll and Infocare. You hand it off; you don't manage it.
Every incorporated society must re-register under the 2022 Act with a compliant constitution, updated officer duties and new financial reporting. It's a common headache for local clubs and trusts. I can review where you stand and handle the ongoing secretary work and statutory filings that keep you compliant afterwards.
No. You choose flexible hourly support or a fixed monthly retainer, so you can budget with confidence. If something falls outside an agreed retainer, I stop and quote it first - never billed retroactively. No meters running on every two-minute phone call.
Very little. You don't need to write instruction manuals or SOPs for me. I review what already exists, ask a few targeted questions, and take ownership from there. If you feel you're managing me in the first month, you can walk away with no ongoing commitment.
Everything stays in your own cloud environment - your Xero, Microsoft 365 or Infocare. You keep full ownership and control at all times. I work inside your systems; nothing is held hostage on a personal drive, and your data never leaves your business.
I'm based in Te Puke and work across the wider Bay of Plenty - Tauranga, Rotorua, Whakatāne and the rural and coastal communities in between. Most of my work is done remotely using Microsoft 365, Zoom and cloud tools, which keeps things efficient and cost-effective - but I'm happy to be there in person when it matters, like a key meeting or AGM. I also support organisations remotely right across New Zealand.
